GIS Services: Updating Land Base Data for Real-World Accuracy

The data from multiple network systems was not in the required GIS format, with inaccurately geo-positioned data as well. With a hand drawn initial land base in AutoCAD, the alignment of the data with real-world systems was off. Also, as there were multiple systems for the data, the AutoCAD specifications and symbols varied greatly.

By referring to both aerial and underground imagery, the client’s assets were moved to real-world locations. With over 163 exchanges of data (over 700,000 features!) being moved from inaccurate geo-positioned data to an accurate real-world GIS system, the client was now able to keep track of their projects with ease, without the constant worry of misalignment and possible errors that can arise.

Accurate real-world data reduced the turnaround time of projects by greatly reducing the amount errors that can occur through disconnected field and design teams.
