The Quality Control (QC) Tool

For a client with an extremely large size of operations, automated quality checks were required to save them valuable time, effort and money. The Quality Control (QC) Tool performs automated quality checks on completed designs. In the case of any design standard violations or data integrity issues, the tool immediately flags them, alerting the design team of the issues, allowing for quick turnaround time with accurate network designs.

Before the introduction of the QC tool, design quality checks were a manual process, taking weeks and even months for more complex designs to validate the data of a service area. After tool was used, the same validation process was cut down to just a few hours!

IMMCO’s designers finished the design in the Bentley environment, following which they executed the QC tool, which was mapped to the Oracle database for an accurate quality check. After the tool was executed, the error summary along with a detailed error report was displayed, both of which were interactive with the Bentley platform.

The designers could now double click on a line item in the error report, and the tool would take them directly to the exact location of the error.

The error report interaction feature was also greatly appreciated by the designers, letting them get to work far more efficiently. We further improved upon this tool to make it interactive across other platforms as well in future engagements, most notably, SpatialNET.
